Elderly parents

Is there a company who will do this?

My elderly parents could do with a cleaner but it would be great if that person could also keep an eye on them, maybe stay for a coffee, do a bit of shopping as well as simple cleaning. We would be willing to pay properly for this of course. So there is befriending involved, as well as practical help. Does anyone know a company like this?

DMIL's cleaner sort of organically grew into precisely that role, she was local and had just been through her own DM's dementia journey. Absolute godsend, MIL really liked and trusted her and they even did gentle outings together as long as DMIL was able to (hairdresser, supermarket). She also did a weekly shop for DMIL as she couldn't cope with home deliveries.

Agencies like this do exist and I found a fantastic organisation called Evergreen for my mum when her dementia began to take hold. She would never have accepted carers and the agency were happy to go along with me telling her that they were a befriending service. At first she had one visit per week but I gradually increased this. As my mum's dementia worsened, the carers started to heat up an evening ready meal, and they also did a bit of shopping when needed, and did some basic cleaning for her,
What I found best of all was that it was always the same two carers who were assigned to her, rather than having a pool of people, so they got to know her really well, and spent time sitting with her and having a cup of tea.one of the carers rang me almost every time she visited to let me know how mum had been that day, and they always made sure that they left her with the back door locked and windows closed. The agency was a little bit more expensive than others but they were worth every penny. It's really worth looking round and I'm sure there are other agencies like the one I used.

Age uk have this home carer service minimum 1.5 hours locally 22 per hour. Just started this with relative. Had a hiccup when they came early 09.30 instead of after 11 as agreed and relative was not answering door..

for 45minutes...... they called me, cue various scenarios considered....but as police rolled up she appeared
....
very cross at being roused from her bed . But they will do housework shopping clean make lunch chat etc . (No personal care)
Early days yet she is getting used to it but very much needed.
