Only just found out. She's been absolutely fine for her age (early 70's) and now in the past 2 weeks has gotten so ill that she has been to the doctor for tests and it has been confirmed. She lives in a different country. I plan on visiting soon. What can I get her? What does she need? Besides all the love and support of course. But are there any must have items that really helped your loved ones who went through this?

I'm so sorry about your DD.

Does she have a favourite perfume?

A friend of mine has been through chemo recently and she loved the reusable ice pop moulds I bought her. Like this but no snazzy!

www.amazon.co.uk/Bangp-Silicone-Popsicle-Mold-Attached/dp/B0895X2D6P/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3FLVUGZBUOF0Z&keywords=ice+pop+moulds&qid=1667763922&sprefix=ice+pop+%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

Another friend loved her triangle pillow for when she was feeling to weak to sit up by herself and a bean bag for her ipad/book - something like this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Bean-Lazy-eReader-tablets-eReaders/dp/B00YUQEWMC/ref=sxin_15_ac_d_rm?ac_md=1-1-dGFibGV0IGJlYW4gYmFn-ac_d_rm_rm_rm&content-id=amzn1.sym.0b27cf19-b0d0-4bf1-9dce-b0a41b6c66ae%3Aamzn1.sym.0b27cf19-b0d0-4bf1-9dce-b0a41b6c66ae&crid=81Z7M3HHE4CV&cv_ct_cx=tablet+cushion&keywords=tablet+cushion&pd_rd_i=B00YUQEWMC&pd_rd_r=ca8215f7-b586-4947-99d0-75bad47ed936&pd_rd_w=GSQnt&pd_rd_wg=viZI1&pf_rd_p=0b27cf19-b0d0-4bf1-9dce-b0a41b6c66ae&pf_rd_r=CR2DJ5Z19M1BYA1JAHR0&psc=1&qid=1667763977&sprefix=tablet+cushion%2Caps%2C118&sr=1-2-e2b79f78-a3a0-4cac-b70d-2a5e4ae8e724

The website itself is very expensive but "Notanotherbunchofflowers" is a great place to look for ideas. I must admit I look on there and buy stuff elsewhere!

I don't know whereabouts your mum is or what treatment she will be having but soft socks/scarves/headwraps could be appreciated.

Some people find their sense of taste and smell is altered during chemo so unscented lotion might be good for dry skin with the perfume as a treat for when she is feeling more herself.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Thank you so much! These are great ideas! Much appreciated!!!

Not a lot to offer I am afraid, but wanted to say sorry about your news. My mum is struggling with very cold hands which does not help when she needs to have blood taken or canulas fitted so I have bought her some turtle dove fingerless gloves to wear in the house.

I have cancer myself at the moment and I'm currently having chemotherapy. My sense of smell and taste is completely off, and scents that usually smell lovely are making me sick. Unscented shower gels could be good for your mum as well as lotions that don't smell strongly as ive found my skin is really dry.

I need gloves to take anything out of the fridge or freezer and I've found powdered milk easier for making tea since I hurt my fingers taking the milk out the fridge by accident when I wasn't wearing my gloves.

The best thing so far has been a body pillow I bought, and a pillow wedge for keeping my legs raised. It means I can get comfortable in bed. Hot water bottles and blankets are also really nice right now.

I'm not sure if your mum reads, I usually love books but I bought a kindle with a back light as it takes so much energy to turn a light on and off. I got a pouch that straps onto the side of my bed which holds my water, tablets and kindle which is so helpful too. Another thing that has helped is a long handed grabber tool because I found it difficult to bend down and pick anything up if I dropped it, so it could be good to get your mum one of those. I have one upstairs and one downstairs.

A diary is another thing that is good as I find I have so many things to remember but I forget so easy. I keep all the numbers I need in there and keep it by me to write down every single phone call and appointment so I don't forget.

I can imagine how difficult things feel right now, knowing you are there for her will mean so much to your mum x
