Elderly parents

Service stations with shortest distance to loos M4/M5?

I'm taking my elderly parents on holiday and we'll need to stop for wee breaks. My dad has very limited mobility. I have a fold up wheelchair that I can push him to the loos and then he can walk the last bit himself but I'd rather keep the distance as short as possible.

I know most service stations put the loos miles away at the back. Are there any where they're closer? Or at least the disabled loos are near the doors?

Chieveley Services Newbury J13 M4 are easy to access particularly if you have a Blue Badge, just through main entrance doors

Usually there is a toilet in the petrol station, it is much quicker and easier to just pop in there instead of walking all the way through the services. I usually do this when travelling on my own with children as it's much easier.

Ah brilliant both - thanks! I will put chievely on my list.

And that's such a good idea re the petrol station. Hadn't thought of that. Genius!

Beware - Chieveley doesn't have loos at the petrol station, so stick to the main building. I've been caught out by that myself.

Gloucester Services (M5, between junctions 11a and 12 both sides) have their toilets fairly close to the entrance and also have disabled-access toilets in the petrol station. Have a look on their website for further info - enjoy the holiday!

Asda, just off junction 17 of the M5 southbound.

Also just off J17 M5 is the Mall at Cribbs Causeway. Loos are just inside the doors from outside into the main atrium - either end entrance by John Lewis or Marks and Spencer (not by Boots or River Island).

Hog and hedge between Exeter and okehampton if you’re going on further down than m5

Another vote for Gloucester - great disabled loos

Thanks everyone! And thanks for note about petrol station loos at chieveley.

I have found a great website called accessable which gives you a video guide from the disabled parking bay to the loos.

The toilets at Gordano aren't far from the entrance and the accessible toilet is much closer than the main toilets. Just have to remember the radar key!
