Alternative to Careline/subscription alarm?

DM has had another hike in her monthly payment for Careline.

Can anyone recommend some sort of ‘easy‘ pendant or watch that has an emergency button that will ring me/999?

DM’s on a budget and doesn’t want to pay out 35 quid monthly, especially when it started off at £22 less than two years ago!

DM has 24 hr monitored Suresafe Go GPS tracker, it’s £18.99 a month and has a fall monitor.

Does the county council offer a service?

What about age UK? Their basic package is at about £17 a month.

I'd caution against one that called 999 directly (you certainly could set it up to do that) as 999 is not a service for that. The number of accidental activations of alarms like this mean that is inappropriate - you are also unable to test whether it works properly in this case. Additionally, if she's fallen or needs help and isn't near the unit they may not respond at all and certainly won't quickly. Straight to your mobile is fine but will only really work if you can go round fairly soon.

My mum's is through the council and they attend if she pushes it, not me. They then phone to update me.

We’re looking for something that she can press which will ring me/DH/family in order.

DM doesn’t want to pay for a ‘staffed’ service as we’re all very local eg 500m away. So she doesn’t feel that she needs a service that will come round or liaise with us.

Do bear in mind, particularly if she has fallen, you may not be able help easily whereas a staffed service will appear with all sorts of gizmos to assist.
