Best smart phone for older people?

Hello wise people! Looking for a smartphone for my 75 year old dad. Ideally something without a full touchscreen because he's a bit clumsy with his fingers. He's cognitively fine and happy texting and calling on his ancient flip phone. His eyesight is pretty good for his age.
Pretty sure they have WiFi provided in the communal areas in his assisted living block but something with a good data package would probably suit him as I can't see him paying for his own router etc.
He basically needs something he can install WhatsApp on so I can send him pictures and Google the odd thing.

TIA

My MIL has Motorola - I hate it when she ask me to help her do stuff with it as I haven't a clue how to use it. The camera is also rubbish and when I tried to set her NHS app up on it it wasn't compatible

If you're an iPhone 'er then I would get him an iPhone 7 or 8 plus - nice big screens and you can help when he gets stuck with it.

MIL has an iphone, don’t know which one, she had a Doro which is designed for the elderly but it was crap. She also has an iPad mini and uses that to FaceTime etc (she’s 85). She’s fine with the apps on the touchscreen but couldn’t get the hang of the fingerprint thing at all. Personally I’d get him to get one of whatever you use, so you can talk him through what to do.

MIL uses hers to play things like scrabble online with her friends. Her broadband is part of her sky package and worth every penny. She’s got an Alexa too which she’s just getting her head round and really enjoys for things like shopping list and timers and reminders.

Both my grandparents have doro's and find them really easy to use,

Doro for my mum too. Great little phone.

Im really surprised how well my mum has taken to the Doro. Doesn't do WhatsApp though.

DF has Parkinson’s with reduced sensitivity in his fingers and tremors. The doro has been great (even though he keeps pressing the emergency call button by accident)

Forgot to say the doro on the link does WhatsApp

Agree with the Doro, or you could tey him with an existing phone if you have an old one, to which you've installed a suitable launcher this type of thing: www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-best-simple-android-launchers-parents-grandparents/

So on his 'front page' he'd see selected, massive icons for the apps he'd want.
