Elderly parents

employing a carer privately

Hi,
My elderly Dad lives alone and , after a long spell in hospital and care homes, is back at his house and needs live-in care. We have done a few months through an agency but it's not financially sustainable long term because they charge SO much (and the carer doesn't see much of it). His current carer has agreed to work for him privately and I'm trying to work out how to create a contract. She wants to be self-employed as she already has SE status for other work. Has anyone else ever set this up? Any advice? it feels like a legal minefield tbh. Thanks.

No personal experience but look up "employing a self employed worker". Plenty of details there. I would have thought it was up to the worker to do their own tax etc?
