Socks for hugely swollen feet

Mum has diabetes and oedema and needs socks which will stretch hugely and not leave grooves in her ankles.

There is so much choice, but never are the reviews universally good.

Can anyone recommend a brand from experience?

I never managed to solve this for my father. Everything I tried was pronounced "too tight". Even now he is in a nursing home, I notice he has reverted to his preferred solution, which is to rip the top of the socks down for about 3 inches, leaving them to flap around his ankles.

Amongst all the sources, have you looked at Cosyfeet?

My mum cuts the tops off her socks too. Her main complaint is that the diabetic socks aren't pretty enough.

We have some good slippers from Cosyfeet, so definitely worth a try. Otherwise I guess it is scissors time!

I often recommend primark fluffy socks to my patients. They are really soft and the elastic is only on the very top edge so you can just snip it and the sock still looks ok. If legs really swollen buy the men’s ones.

Foot specialist here, cosyfeet are your best bet.

Another vote for Cosyfeet. They’re very helpful if you give them a call, and will make sure yiu get just what you need. Plus, because she’s diabetic they make it easy for you to buy without paying VAT.

I’m so glad you said that hp2 as that’s exactly what we got fir DMIL. DD loves them and I figured they might do for DMIL 🙂
