Keeping in touch - like a dog cam type thing?

My Fil lives alone and is very lonely because of the pandemic closing off all of his social opportunities.

I mentioned getting a device for his kitchen which he can talk to us from (he forgets how to use his phone, and finds talking on the phone hard to concentrate on)

But now I can't find the sort of thing I'm looking for, I saw one advertised during lockdown, a family were cooking together and doing exercises together and listening to the children's violin practice etc.

It needs to be static and so we can see him and he can see us, so always live (at his end).

Anyone know what I'm talking about ?

Can I ask how this differs from messenger. My mum uses messenger on her laptop but due to dementia struggles a bit. Would this be easier?

My family use Alexa Show's once it was set up
All my parents had to do is say Alexa call ???? And they appear on my screen. It was great during lockdown as we could all drop in on each other.

I bought her one a while ago but she didn't really get on with it, she kept forgetting to say alexa, I could try again, will it connect to other people who just have messenger or would they have to have the show as well.

You can use it with either a WhatsApp account or a messenger one - ours is all set up for WhatsApp because the grandparents don’t have Facebook. For my Grannie in particular it was the fact she could use it on her tv that was the bonus, so she could see everyone (she struggles on an iPad)
