Looking for any help/suggestions here

Quick background. FIL is 89, has multiple health issues and lives alone

Last night at 3am he was admitted to hospital with chest pains and a temperature. Both v concerning

This gives two immediate problems

(1) the hospital is no visitors, except in exceptional circumstances
(2) the hospital is three hours away

At the moment things look stable, but if things go bad, would we be allowed to get to the hospital anyway and would they let us in (and if things were that bad would we be any good there anyway?)

I’m sorry to hear this - it must be very worrying.

You need to call the hospital and ask them what they suggest.

The hospital should keep you informed of his condition. Nurses have been using iPads to give patients contact with family. I personally know of one case where the close family were allowed in to say goodbye to their loved one. You should ring the ward and ask them.

For now I'd keep in touch with the hospital and see what they say

We’ve spoken to the hospital and we are waiting on tests

My friend lost his Dad yesterday due to corona. He was allowed to visit and was with him at the end. Was able to take his phone so he could see his other adult children.

And just to close off my own thread, FIL passed away yesterday at 5pm. He had five Covid tests and the last one came back positive. He fought long and hard, but eventually ran out of options
