Hello this is the first time I've been here . My DF went into hospital yesterday with a bad chest infection - 85 Been moved to elderly care ward today . He's normally so fit and well and active socially , has many interests.
It's floored him . I have sibling but far away .
He's having IV antibiotics. Was very confused. Has anyone got any experience of this and if he will be able to get back to his normal way of independent life ? I'm worried this is the beginning of the end for him .

I think he will be fine in time with the ABs since he is normally so fit and well generally. He could also have a water infection which makes many confused. Don't worry please, speak to the medics and take it from there.

I speak from experience here. Every time relative was admitted it looked like there was no coming back. All good now though.

Agree with the above post.

I have an elderly rellie, in his 90s and he was the same last winter. Was in and out of hospital twice. Way better this year. The intravenous ABs fair perked him up in just a few days. Hopefully they will do the same for your dad.
