Hi, I am a GCSE student currently studying design engineering, I am researching elderly self sufficiency in rural/remote areas for my school coursework. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to fill out this survey, so I am able to get a better idea of the things that family members feel are better needed and what issues are currently faced? There are only ten question so should not take very long. Thanks

Your survey doesn’t really answer your statement questions. The problems are isolation, transport, poor internet skills on the part of many elderly, managing without neighbours or visitors, access to services.

I’ve filled it in but didn’t understand it before I started. My parents are elderly and live in a very rural area but I thought you meant “self sufficient” in that they grow all of their own food and keep bees!

As they get older, there is no public transport within 3 miles, a village with no shop or any other facilities whatsoever, 6 miles to nearest doctor, an hour to nearest hospital. They can drive at present.
