MIL has just finished a course of tablet only treatment for myeloma. She has lost a lot of weight and fortisip gives her diarrhea. Any ideas how to help weight gain gently? She has a poor appetite

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your Mum. My Dad had myeloma and also had mainly oral meds with no stem cell treatment. He also lost weight. It was difficult to tempt him. He did enjoy fruit smoothies or milk shakes for awhile but we had to watch carefully that he was swallowing them properly and not aspirating (choking). Maybe try some thickened pudding (like custard) that you can add some extra protein/fat to. Jello can go down easy. Also soft things like mashed potatoes.

Sorry you are going through this nasty disease. Sending hugs. Thanks

Sorry shes poorly. Have they tried fortijuice which some people easier to take as it's not milky, its concentrated fruit juice. Does she like yoghurt, custard, mousses. You can ask for calorie powder which can be added to food and drinks. What treats does she enjoy.
