Elderly Parents - getting into SUV

We need to change our car, currently have a old Volvo XC90 that my parents struggle to get in and out of. Would really like to get another SUV but not if they can't get into it. Have just thought that we could buy a non slip step to help them get in so could still get another SUV - as long as the back seat doors open wide enough. Anyone here used a step to help them get in or got any suggestions?

Yes, DW used a spare caravan step to enable her DM to get in and out of her Mercedes ML.
Step is large with widely spaced, splayed feet. Non slip top but made of plastic so easy to pick up and keep in the boot.

I'm sure I can remember seeing a little step produced many years ago to help the queen mother to get out of the back of an old style landrover discovery reasonably gracefully
