sad about my elderly relative

They are very vulnerable and living a long way from any family so there is little I can do but I've found out today that they are being taken advantage of by a care worker who has been very good at covering their tracks.
A complaint has gone in but I'm so upset, all I want to do is cry at the thought of them being alone and vulnerable and some bastard taking advantage of them.

Which is why I don't quite understand how someone can come on a site like this saying they want sympathy for themselves not the elderly relative who has been taken advantage of. The elderly relative is getting sympathy from the OP and no doubt from others. But the OP is having the stress of dealing with it, of seeing someone taken advantage of, of perhaps feeling unjustifiably guilty that she didn't see what was happening in time to prevent it. She feels she needs support, and is seeking it from people who are not involved rather than people around her who are rightly likely to be concerned about the elderly relative. You've spoken about how difficult it is to cope with an elderly relative, perhaps you'd be feeling less unsympathetic if you'd received support.

What nasty replies you have had from a couple of posters. I honestly don't know what's wrong with some people. I assume they get a kick out of making snide comments.

Please ignore them and don't worry about wanting some support for what sounds like an upsettting situation.
No advice really other than to do what you are doing. We have had a similar situation where it's a family member that's stealing money from an elderly vulnerable relative. It's almost impossible to do anything about it. It makes me feel sick.

It is awful when you are far away. You feel so helpless and you want to take action but whatever you do does not feel enough. I can understand why you need a hand hold
