2 week’s non-stop pooing followed by 2 week’s with nothing- normal?

My 90 year old bed bound Mum has had a cycle for the last year of almost constant pooing (very loose) which lasts a fortnight followed by 2 week’s of nothing. She has no pain and was told years ago she had diverticulitis, but this pattern is awful. As a primary career I’m constantly changing and cleaning her , then it just stops. Thinking of giving her Imodium but as she has a fortnight dry , I don’t know if that’s wise. Anyone else experienced this with an elderly relative?

I wouldn't give her Imodium which could just bung her up and cause constipation, pain and compaction. You should speak to the district nurse or GP and ask their advice. Is she on any laxatives or special diet.
