Dad has lung cancer

93 years old and diagnosed three weeks ago. No treatment is being proposed, just palliative care but nothing yet arranged. He's very breathless and has started to cough up blood. He's being very brave so as not to upset me to the point of bravado in fact. It's just so horrible. I never wanted his life to end like this. Sad

My dad was the same - age and condition. He didn't reach the point of coughing up blood - that sounds awful - but he had noticed more of a cough towards the end.

I hope he gets some good care soon.

Sorry to hear this, has he seen his gp or someone about his symptoms?
There are medications that could help including morphine - it's not just for pain.

Hope he is comfortable soon Flowers

Would really recommend Macmillan nurses. My father also had lung cancer and only palliative treatment and their support was vital for both of us.
