Where to live in SE London for an elderly parent with a limited budget?

We live in Blackheath/Greenwich and I'm trying to convince my mum to move down south to be near us.

She's 70 and reasonably mobile, but has just lost my dad and has various health problems (treatable breast cancer, needs a hysterectomy). She currently lives in a 3-bedroomed detached self-build that was valued at £275,000 by the care home. I think she might be able to stretch to £350k with some help, but - in London - even that doesn't stretch very far.

She tends to hoarding and hates flats, so I've been looking online at small 2-bedroomed houses with gardens. While shopping for neighbourhoods online, I found a couple of reasonable looking houses in Forestgate in South Croydon and around Bexleyheath/Barnehurst/Falconwood/Welling. I lived in the Progress Estate in Eltham when I first moved to London so was also looking there.

Are these places safe for a lone elderly woman? And can you recommend anywhere else I should look?

NB: My mum really liked the look of this house (www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-65695571.html).

What are the GP/Health Centres like where you're looking?

I work with a mainly older patient caseload and the GP/Patient relationship is vital , especially if your Mother has health problems and she's going to be moving away from her own GP.
It is much harder to change GPs once you're registered.

If you can find a GP practice where they have a GPwSI (GP with Special Interest) in Geriatric Medicine. (that might not be the correct name now )
Look at online reviews for the Health Centres too.

I'd have a look at First Port retirement properties.
