Holding your hand quint, i lost my dad after a car accident which i think was caused by his parkinsons, these 'secondary' problems are awful :-(

Hugs Quint, you have so much to cope with. For now, leave it to the nursing teams - you cannot be there all the time, and sometimes you have to not be there so that the appropriate care gets put in place. Much as it can break your heart

My parents seem to be on a weekly schedule of emergency ambulances at the moment. And like you, I know it will only end one way

Thanks. It would seem he has had another stroke. A small one, but they nurses are on alert in case he gets a few "cluster strokes" or TIAs before another massive one.

Trying to work out when it will be best to go home. He feels fine for now, but is on Lyrica for another neurological damage so that can account for some of the confusion he is feeling now.

Lyrica can be like that - I take it and it had to be ramped up slowly over several weeks while I adjusted. A tiny amount of alcohol also makes me sound comedy drunk

My friend was also on Lyrica, she has told me some stories, but she is now taking an alternative which has less side effects, but not as efficient.

It's been a shite couple of years hasn't it? My parents are both in their 80s now, and I know I have it all ahead of me.

It has just been drawing out so long. I am weary now. I still cant make up my mind if and when to fly up there. Not even sure what exactly that would accomplish?

DH has meetings out of town next week and the following. We have a new boiler installation happening, ds2s parents evening, my own dental surgery, and if I were to go now, all would have to be cancelled, and we would have to get a temporary after school nanny in place for the ds1, or somebody who could drop him to school, pick him up and stay with him until dh gets home.

Just not sure how we could arrange things.

So sorry you are going through this. You were a big help to me when everything kicked off with my Mother a year ago.

I agree with MaryZ, if you go now everything will land on you. You'll have to sort out everything here for you to go the sort it all there. There needs to be a sustainable solution put in place that functions without you. Once that is up and running then go and check it's working and what else might need to be out in place.

Ring so the professionals know you are there and monitoring but explain due to your family circumstances you can't get over now but are very concerned about your Dad and the situation.
