Looking for a SATs paper

I'm looking for a 2009 level 3 (KS1) maths paper on line. Are they available (free) on line yet? I can only find less recent ones.

Can I ask what you want them for?

Feenie · 09/07/2010 21:19

No, since it was one of the choices to be used this year - 2007 or 2009. So it isn't a past paper yet.

ah, ok, thank you though!

FYI, KS1 is no longer formally assessed via a test. Currently the national curriculum assesses KS1 children via teacher assessment which normally involves internal school exams.

Whatever your personal feelings are about SATs vs teacher assessments, both achieve the same result - a fairly crude attempt to resolve your child's learning state to a single integer between 1 and 3 (for KS1).

Whether you think putting pressure on children to achieve their best is a good idea or not is besides the point (personally I can't remember it doing me any harm, if anything the opposite). Anyway, the best way to get them to perform better, in my teaching and learning experience, is by practice practice practice - download the past papers.

www.freepastpapers.co.uk, St Joesephs Pickering (google it) and the official QCA/QCDA website have all the papers free to download.

Shock Are you a teacher, uberdadof5?

I think that's very possibly the worst KS1 advice seen here ever.

uberdad has some sort of SATs agenda going on. He's been bumping SATs threads from a long, long time ago too.

Under no circumstances practice SATS! Particularly at KS1.

Apart from anything else, a school is assessed on its SATS results, and if the real picture is masked by parents coaching at home, any OFSTED wouldn't be an accurate pictures.
