I have four kids at primary school, an outgoing head who has been brilliant, several great TAs and one of the best lollipop ladies in the world.

I am also very, very broke.

So what's the solution?

A rose from your garden or a small plant like a geranium with the base covered in tin foil & a bow.

Make something.

DS1 is cross stitching bookmarks and keyrings using scraps of canvas and threads stolen sourced from my mum's sewing box.

Get the kids to make cards or biscuits. That will be enough.

Good idea to bake stuff. Maybe some home made fudge or something and dd can help put pretty wrapping on it.

I'll need around 15 bags of the stuff.

check costs of cooking - can work out more than you think!

Spidermama · 07/07/2010 14:16

True Blue but I have no roses.

Check pricing on small plants - worked a treat when I had loads of school pressies. This year I gave boxes of notecards.

I've just gone on maternity leave and received an envelope this morning filled with card from one of my classes...always appreciated!

Cortina · 07/07/2010 14:47

Group class presents. Class rep collects small contributions from all and Bob's your Uncle Teacher ends up with something he/she likes too!

I have an hour to come up with something for dds music teacher. He is going to uni & has worked so hard with her and she is gutted he is leaving! Just got no ideas!

Cortina · 07/07/2010 14:52

A book about music or similar if there's a bookshop nearby?

Chocs or similar?

Voucher from Next or similar?

How much do you want to spend?

nymphadora · 07/07/2010 14:54

Going to music shop after school, otherwise it's chocs as we are a bit limited shop wise!

Dds teachers at school are much easier thankfully!

Cortina · 07/07/2010 14:56

Inspiration may strike in the music shop! Sheet music? Something like that.

Book of Apusskiduskiapusskidu? To bring back school memories (although he may not be familar)!

ChateauRouge · 07/07/2010 15:22

Ah... apusskidusski! I loved that song- can still sing it all

Cortina · 07/07/2010 15:26
