What are my chances? The school doesn't have anything in archives.

They all said

must try harder

Could do better

Must learn to turn up in order to achieve anything

couldn't you fake one?

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2010 18:22

I can't believe they have no copies - they are generally copied so one goes home and one goes in the child's file.

Are you sure they just can't be bothered to look for them?

FabIsGettingFit · 25/06/2010 18:31

Of course I can't fake one. It is to be used in a legal case.

How long does the school keep copies for though?

Your own school reports? From how long ago?

I'd think it was pretty unlikely a school would still have them from several years ago.

They'd have been paper based, and - may even have been done in carbon copy style books (they were at my sixth form). There will have been copies but I can't imagine they are held particularly long.

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2010 18:44

The school is very unlikely to have them for you, but should have copies of your DC's

FabIsGettingFit · 25/06/2010 18:56

I don't want my kid's ones. I need mine.
Thanks anyway.
With everything being on the internet these days it was a long shot that they might be available some how.

We keep copies until the child transfers to another school then send reports to the new school with all other paperwork.

nickschick · 25/06/2010 19:14

Fab I think somewhere they must have them?

I remember when I was leaving school I saw my file on the heads desk I looked inside and there was pictures Id drawn in primary etc and a reading record?.

FabIsGettingFit · 25/06/2010 19:14

It isn't very likely that they will still have them after more than 15 years though, is it?

The law states secondary schools must keep records until the pupil would reach the age of 25 when they should be destroyed

FabIsGettingFit · 25/06/2010 19:29

No chance then. Thanks anyway.

They can't keep them forever as the classrooms would all be filled with old records! If the school doesn't have them and your parents don't then they are unlikely to still be in existence.

blametheparents · 25/06/2010 21:14

(Nosey) Why do you need them?

FabIsGettingFit · 26/06/2010 09:11

My parents never had any reports or anything at all to say I even existed so I will just have to manage without them.

You could put in a Data Protection Act request to the school - if the records are in existence, the school would be obliged to search for them. Even if they don't have the school reports, they may have other records which might help, eg attendance records.

The local authority may also have an educational file (but probably not school reports) - you'd have to put in a separate request for them.

FabIsGettingFit · 26/06/2010 13:40

I have already contacted the school and they have said they don't have my school reports. Attendance records won't help tbh but thank you for trying.

Hey Fab, I reckon me and you have had similar stuff - but you know what? what hasnt killed us makes us stronger.

Its gonna be ok x

bigTillyMint · 27/06/2010 05:38

Fab, my mum has chucked out all my old school reports, but she still has hers.

Zodwanaki · 16/03/2024 17:59

Hi how can get my school report online which was lost???

spanieleyes · 16/03/2024 18:39

Same as previously! Primary reports would be passed on to secondary, they retain them until you are 25.
