7+ to NLCS

I am planning to get my DD to do the 7+ entry exam. I get a few questions:

  1. She is quite happy and doing very well in her current pre-prep (which is quite a good one, but its senior school is not in the same league as that of NLCS). Alos, she has a few very good friends in her current school. It seems that will break her heart to tell her moving to another school (although I wont tell her unless she gets an offer in the end). Do you have similar experience and how you help with them with the transition, I would like to hear your story!
  2. How do I approach the headmistress since part of the admission process will require reference letter from currenct school. I would like to keep that as low key as possible and want to maintain a good relationship with the current school, how can I request the letter in a sensible manner?
Many thanks for any advice (no bashing here please, I know I am one of those 'pushy' mum)

My daughter was at NLCS from reception until the end of year 3 when we moved abroad to the middle east. We were there when the new 7+ intake came in. They are very good at settling in the new girls and well within the first term my daughter was close friends with some of the new girls.
Regarding approaching your headmistress I would say that your daughter probably won't be the only one sitting entrance exams and even if she is hopefully your head will be professional enough to not let it affect her attitude to u and your daughter. If u think that isn't the case u could play devils advocate and say that it's DD's father who really wants her to sit for NLCS.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your thought, Carolinemaths! Hope your daughter/family settle and enjoy the life abroad.
