I did one at Sheffield Hallam in 2001. It was paid for by my LEA and I got time off to attend lectures.
It involved 8 full contact days with the tutor in lectures. 2 tutorial days to check on progress of modules. The rest was reading and producing the 3 module assessments.
It was worth 1/3 MA points.
I think it was worth it as now staff are doing middle leadership courses and I feel one from university is a good thing to possess.
Most middle leadership jobs will now look for someone who has or is willing to do such a course. Also a good thing to have if you want to do NPQH.

Thanks for getting back to me Ditdot. My LA is paying for me to do mine - i am a manager within social services. I did an NVQ 4 in management 5 odd yrs ago which wasn't too time consuming .... it is good to know that this will be worth it. Thank you.
