Hi, my daughter has been going to full time daycare nursery run by Sure start since she was 6 months old and the nursery has a preschool 'room'. Now she is nearly 2 and I am completely confused of what is coming up.

Should I be looking at moving her to a nursery attached to a school and would this be part time?
Do they start Reception at 4? And is this place applied for via the council? Also is this full time or part time?

I know the pre-school room at the nursery we are at is full time, but then I am confused at when are they supposed to start half days and is this at school in reception or elsewhere?!?

The more I seem to read the more confused I seem to be getting.

I have friends who have children of the same age that are putting their names down on nursery lists to do part time, which has confused me even more!

Help!!

Hi,
If your daughter goes to a nursery, they will move her to the pre-school room when she due to start. If you pay for nursery, from the term after their 3rd birthday, the governments gives a grant, which will be paid direct to the nursery and that means that your payments to nursery feed would be a little bit cheaper. Your nursery should be able to answer all the questions about it.
The nurseries attached to schools, usually just run half days, which are not really help if your work, but a lot of children that they have one parent looking after them, they usually starting to go to a pre-school around 2 1/2 3 years old.
In the area that we live in, you applied for Reception places between January-March of the year they have to start, so if your daughter birthday is between 1st Sept 2004-31st August 2005, she would have started Recption in September 2009. Reception is full time. Reception wouldn't be in the nursery, would be at a primary school, and to know which primary schools are in your area or when you have to apply, you should contact your Local council and they should be able to help.
I hope I help with your questions

You don't need to move her until she starts school having turned 4. So if she is 2 before end of August that will be Septmeber 2012 and she may be part time for a while as she'd be on the younger side. Some primary schools have a nursery/preschool on site but that is usually run separately and most often attendance has no bearing on whether they are then allocated a place in Reception on the same site. You'd be ask to apply for her Reception place end 2011/early 2012 - your LA(Council) website should have details. If you wnat to move her , you should be looking at aletrnatvies nwo as your friends are - privately run ones may have waiting lists and council ones you may need to formally apply for shortly. hth
