Just doing a bit of digging on some schools in an area we may be looking at a move to.

Any one have opinions/experience with these schools?

Aysgarth School
Cundall Manor
Polam Hall
Yarm
Queen Mary's York
Ripon Cathedral School
Fyling Hall
Barnard Castle
Giggleswick
Woodleigh Prep
Hurworth House School
Belmont Grosvenor
Minster School York

Just to add - we are looking at day schools with possibly a view to boarding later, like schools that go through to 18 but also interested in ones that get them into the top senior schools.
Also have heard good things about Aysgarth, Giggleswick and Barnard Castle. Have heard York schools (Queen Mary, Minster School) can be quite snobbish.

Hurworth House boys school is moving onto Polam Hall site! They are still keeping it separate from the girls but I think the sixth form may be mixed. Am not sure if Hurworth ever had a sixth form anyway. Hurworth wasn't boarding but am not sure if it will be under the new scheme.

Queen Mary's is near Thirsk not York.

There is a Queen Margaret's in the area but I am not sure where that is exactly.

You haven't mentioned St Peter's or Bootham; which age group do you want?

Cundall Manor only goes to 16 (for now, they are talking about extending to 6th form). It does common entrance and seems to have a good record of successes including scholarships to major schools but increasingly more children are staying on beyond 13. There is a good mix of parents although labradors are the dog of choice if that is any clue to the types of people whose children attend!

Barnard Castle is excellent for sport and music. I knew people who went to Polam and enjoyed it as well, not sure about the rest. I live in Richmond if you need help with anything else.

What about Teesside High?

Yarm - lots of bullying and quite snotty from what I have heard.

That's a massive geographic range. Where's your work going to be?
