Hello

Can anyone recommend a road tested, preferably local, lawyer who can help with our primary school appeal. Locale is Chiswick (W4) and local authority are Hounslow.

Thanks

My recommendation would be not to use a lawyer. They are rarely any better than parents on their own and can significantly reduce the chances of success by approaching the appeal as if it was a court of law. I know of one case where a lawyer representing parents ended their case by asking the panel to award costs, which simply doesn't happen.

Do it yourself. It will be cheaper and, especially with the advice you can get on here, it will offer you at least as much chance of success.

Seriously no point in getting a lawyer unless you are arguing a point of law i.e admissions have ballsed up the admissions criteria.

I sit with panels during appeals and IME a lawyer makes no difference whatsoever.

If you have a good case and it outweighs that of the LEA your child will win the appeal. If your case does not outweigh that of the LEA then you will lose the appeal, lawyer or no lawyer. Don't waste your money.

Good luck!
