PTA: Ideas needed for an adult school disco!

Hi
I'm on my primary school's PTA, and in the summer term we're holding our first ever disco for parents. We've already got a DJ who specialises in 70s/80s music. I'd just appreciate some tips from others who have already held such an event. Eg what else did you do on the night to raise money (ie not just entrance and bar takings). Did you serve any food? Anything else which worked well? Thanks a lot.

We had a ball last week - it was a dinner and disco - we had a raffle with prizes donated from the local community. We also sent tickets home to pupil who wern't necessarily coming to the ball, we sold loads! On the night we had a game of playing 'guess the last 3 digits of a £50 note' - £1 to enter and the nearest to the number won. It was easy to organise - the £50 note was put in a sealed envelope by the woman in the bank and she told me that it was above 500 - i then printed sheets with the numbers from 500 to 999 and people signed up for their choice. We had 140 guesses and so that raised £90 with little effort. The raffle raised about £800.

Thanks for the ideas. The game you mention is a new one for us so would make a pleasant change to the normal ones we have at our Quiz Night etc.
Anyone got any other ideas?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but our PTA are planning pretty much the same as the OP, do you think we need to offer food? One idea was a hog roast... They're quite pricey then you have to think about a veggie alternative... Just wondering what other MN users thought, would you be happy to pay a tenner without food? Thanks in advance for tips and thoughts.
