It is a very good school as far as I know, we tried to get my child in with no luck whatsoever.

If I thought there were places there I would move in a shot to get one.

It also means you are very likely to get in at the secondary school which is also very good.

Which school are you leaving?

I tried to CAT you to tell you more but could not.

I believe one of the Mumsnetters is a teacher at the secondary school. She may have a fairly neutral insight.

hi - not sure why I cant get CATS? I dont use MN very often so maybe not ticked the right buttons?

The school they are at at the mo is a combined in Poole which imo is a bit wobbly since the new head took over and I have a few ishoos with it and have had for rather a while. Although, we have only been there 2 years as ds's moved from their first school when ds1 didnt get into our choice middle school as out of catchment.

I have a month to take up the places but bascially with Easter hols coming up if I accepted the places they would finish at their current school next week (which is all a bit rushed but no point going back for a week after Easter and then going to other school)

I have had mixed advice re: the secondary school at Lytchett Mnster. Obviously its becoming very popular as is outstanding etc etc and somehave said no chance of getting them in if we are not in catchment while thers have said they know people who were at the primary and got in to the secondary finethe last couple of years.

My main ocncern is DS1 will be going into Year 5 so essentially will only have another year before leaving and if he doesnt get into the Minster it will be awful for him being mucked around and displaced and I would feel terrile for not leaving him at his current school (although I am really not happy with him there anyway)

A weekend of deciding is on the cards and it's all abit stressful (

It says you have chosen not to receive CATS.

I totally get not wanting to move your son again. We have the same worries about moving dd. My dd's school was rated outstanding but has had a new head and is now in a lot of trouble.

As for secondary I cannot say if you would or would not get in. It is very competitive so not everyone who wants a place will get one. If I could get dd a place at the primary I would take it tbh in the hope it would improve the chances of getting in at secondary. What would the other secondary option be?

Hi

Just wanted to update this incase 'thisthread' was interested

My ds's started at Lytchett Primary on Monday and have had a great week. First impressions are very positive and I feel I made the right decision, although it felt like a hard one for the reason I discussed, BUT I have had a very good vibe from this school and feel much happier dropping my sns off each morning so fingers crossed it continues.

Also this week I heard the head of ds's other school, that I was really unhappy with has resigned after less than 18 months so feel my feelings regarding that school were justified so another plus for making the move to Lytchett.

Just really hope my first impressions are right (think they are as have heard great things from friends of friends etc with children there )

PS - Thisthread - the school recently had a number of places become available due to a few families moving out of the area due to continuing issues with the recession (sadly)so is worth contacting DCC to see if any places still available for your dd.
