Ealing secondary schools?

We are thinking of moving to Ealing. I know there are a number of highly-rated primary schools in the area, but can't find much information about secondary schools -- are there good state options in the borough and nearby, or is it all private like much of West London?

I grew up in Ealing and went to school there but it was a long time ago so don't know how the state schools are now. There are a couple of decent private schools Notting Hill for girls and St Benedicts for boys (although think that's a catholic school).

I'm assuming you have look at ofsted reports?

They are pretty good AFAIK. Its a big borough tho and schools are not evenly spread, so do your homework on catchments. The popular secondary church schools are massively oversubscribed.
Modern languages can be seen as a strength in some schools, handy when pupils have multiple home languages.

Ah see there's the problem, we are not religious and won't pretend Had a quick look at the Ofsted site but will have a further nose. Thanks for your replies.

Friends are about to try Ellen Wilkinson (girls), and Chiswick Community School (mixed)(further south but on E3 busroute)
I know others who rate Drayton Manor highly.
Acton High has had loads of investment. Schools change rapidly I think. If you are still at primary level I don't think it is worth getting too obsessed now.

One of the local secondary schools, which was not so difficult to get into, is now completely oversubscribed - although that was a church school anyway.

I went to Ellen Wilkinson, it was good in my day . Drayton Manor were always better than us at Hockey much to my disgust!

Is Ealing Green still about? That was an all boys non religious school next to Walpole park.

Sorry - have just seen you are not religious. Drayton Manor would be my first choice.
