World Book Day - Help Needed

My DS is in reception and has just recieved his world book day costume letter. HELPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

We went through his copious ammounts of books last night and we got down to...bear from going on a bearhunt, percy from percy the park keeper, Horrid Henry or the very hungry caterpillar.

I am crap not very good at making costumes so some ideas would be gratefully recieved

Horrid Henry would be quite easy to do - jeans with turn ups and then get a blue long sleeve t shirt and sew on the yellow striped bits (or glue depending on skills!). You could make a bit of a woolly wig with brown wool attached to a hat to make the messy hair if you wanted to get carried away

Think this maybe the way to go. I really didn't want to buy. Wanted us to make it together. Any ideas about the brown wig???? Would a swimming cap and brown wool work?????

I did think of a swimming cap but thought it might be a bit uncomfortable - it depends on how tight it is! I would have thought any old hat would do. You could just glue on the wool. You could make it together if you got your DS to colour some paper yellow for the stripes and then attach them to a top he already has. I think when DD2 was the Queen of hearts I stapled the paper hearts on her skirt !!!

doubt he'd keep the hat on all day anyway so the swimming cap could work if he only wore it to school and for the parade and press photos ??????

Yes I did think that the hat would be an extra - just for the bit when he arrives at school and everyone oohs and aahs at all the costumes!!!

right Horrid Henry it is - just to make the hair. if only he had long ish brown hair that i could just scruff up
