ds1 apparently recited his times tables wrongly at school yesterday and the teacher made him sit in the corner with a dunces hat on.

MarsLady · 13/07/2005 21:35

crap crap crap

MarsLady · 13/07/2005 21:35

I love that word PPH

fishfinger · 13/07/2005 21:36

but he is 11 fgs ge should knwo his 2 time s table
( runs)

Lonelymum · 13/07/2005 21:37

I think so too. It was only the 2 times table after all. I would worry more about the school's ability to teach rather than its methods of punishment.

QueenEagle · 13/07/2005 21:37

Exactly coddy.

Totally deserved it IMO.

I think oyu ahev made this up

Hulababy · 13/07/2005 21:38

By sounds of it, it wasn't that he didn't know his 2 x tables, but said them in the wrong way - didn't chant them 1 times 2 is 2, 2 times 2 is 4, etc. Instead he wrongly just said 2, 4, 6...

hercules · 13/07/2005 21:38
Shock
Lonelymum · 13/07/2005 21:39

Sloppiness is the root of all that is wrong with our society.

MarsLady · 13/07/2005 21:39

I think you're messing with my mind QE.

Where's CSI when I want it?

Caligula · 13/07/2005 21:39

What d'you mean it's true? Was he rehearsing a play?

Puff · 13/07/2005 21:39

It's got to be a "Victorian School Day" re-enactment as other have said. I've taken Y5's on one of these outside school. However, teacher's know what should and shouldn't be re-enacted - did the teacher get carried away? It does happen.

QueenEagle · 13/07/2005 21:40

He knew the 2x tables....teacher objected to the way he recited them

You have to have discipline in schools. Have any of you seen the shambles that goes on in our modern education system?

Puff · 13/07/2005 21:41

I'm going to watch my grass grow

hercules · 13/07/2005 21:42

Discipline is not the same as humiliation.

PrincessPeaHead · 13/07/2005 21:42

it is one of my faves marslady.

I was going to say "codswallop" but for some reason thought the better of it. "Piffle" is equally embargoed but how about...

poppycock

MarsLady · 13/07/2005 21:51

love it pph!

Also love twaddle (as in load of...)

Caligula · 13/07/2005 21:53

Quite right LM, it's outrageous that she only put him in the corner - she should have caned him. Lax lax lax.

So come on QE, tell us the real deal?

hercules · 13/07/2005 21:53

Comeon, QE, tell us what really happened.

PrincessPeaHead · 13/07/2005 21:53

ooooh, twaddle is good.

bunkum

hogwash

claptrap

baloney

Lonelymum · 13/07/2005 21:55

I always felt that things began to go wrong when corporal punishment was abolished. I am not so much in favour of the cane, but as a deterrent, I bet it made children think twice. It was sill around when I was a school girl.

QueenEagle · 13/07/2005 22:05

His teacher got her cane out as well when he didn't underline his name with a straight line.
