I want to wind down for summer but the school is organising so many events I'm feeling resentful. I have four kids at three different schools and in the next 2 weeks have:

2 x summer sports
2 x teddy bears picnics
2 x splash days
2 x special mention assemblies
1 x school bbq
1 x school family 'fun' day
2 x painted contribution for leaving tachers car
4 x Presents for teachers (not really optional)

...and that's just the stuff I can remember. I also have a 5 month old at home who's teething. What about all my cooking, shopping and laundry - not to mention mumsnetting.

I wish schools would b*gger off and leave me and my family alone.

just come from sports day, school play tonight/ tomorrow, disco coming up, school trips out (about one a week), fete last weekend and no doubt the next newsletter will reveal something else.

I'm here for a moment's peace in a hectic world so FGS no rows today

spidermama - I know the feeling. I have just got back from sports day for dd and ds1; ds2's is next week. dh is accompanying ds1's year on his trip to Whipsnade Zoo on Friday, dd and ds2 are leaving their respective schools to start new ones in September and there are leavers' assemblies for them. I have 2 uniform collection/meet the new teacher nights.

ds1 signs on with his football team next week, ds4 has his 7mth check up, dd has her trip to the Science Museum in London, ds2 has a school disco on Friday and dd has a leavers disco too!

Somewhere in the middle of all that I have to attend physio 3 more times before the end of term as well as a hospital appointment to see the surgeon who operated on my knee.

4 of the above are occurring on the same day!

Think I'll need a lie down soon; it's making me tired just thinking about it all.

In my day home and school did not mix at all and my mum was never required to do anything for school. That suited us all fine.
