Has anyone got experience of this school please? I am currently exploring this option as a back up for DD1, (long story!) and would be very interested to know if anyone has children there or knows anyone with experiences of the school....
Thanks! x

My nephew went there. Absolutely brilliant school. He has really bad dyslexia, they organised for him to have sessions with a leading dyslexia expert at Sheffield Uni to sort out coping strategies (he's now studying marine biology in the States and is on the Dean's list).
They focus very much on having a caring atmosphere, where the students look after each other, it's very noticable when you visit the school.
Everyone's encouraged to have a go at different activities, and you don't have to be 'the best of the best of the best' to be valued.
If I lived near enough that's where I would want my ds to go

oh thanks for that, it's just the sort of school I am after!!!I am 18 miles away so not exactly very close, but if it's worth it then I will do it!!!

absolutely delightful - one of my boys goes there. He was at another, more prestigious private school and hated it. He moved at an odd year, was welcomed immediately, added to rugby team, is doing brill academically (which he wasn't at previous school with allegedly much better results) and is really happy and settled. Head was fab, happy to go out on a limb and take him.
Really really love the school, am working on two of my other children to persuade them to move there!
also know someone who taught there and he was equally positive about how lovley it is.
We live some distance away too, as do lots of the pupils, my lad gets the bus (shared bus with QEGS/WGHS)

thanks loshad, I think I might know which school you mean if it's the one that has received so many bad reviews recently in leeds....do you know whether silcoates do siblings' discounts as I have 4 children lol

head is definately open to discussions over discounts for 3 or more, he said as much to me.
yes my ds came from a school with a ls postcode!

Ah yes I was right then, I think since the merger they have had a lot of problems, I guess keeping such a large school ticking over must be hard.

We have had a lucky escape as my first 2 had places there but after lots of doubts (there was just something about the place I didn't like but couldn't put my finger on it) we decided to go state and explore private options in our own time etc...now looking into Silcoates.

I hope to visit after half term, although I am not sure we'll get places as they told me they are very busy with all the Cliff School kids moving across...(Cliff School is closing) fingers crossed and let's hope the discounts are good too ;o))))
