I've heard today from a student that Science isn't a compulsory subject for S grades. Is that right?

Well DS1 certainly had to choose one science. Had to English, Maths and a language too and one social science.

Only one? Interesting. It hadn't occurred to me how different things were until we had this boy rock up saying he hadn't done any Science for the last year and a half.

You have to do either biology, chemistry, physics or general science.

Science at my school was the option for the less able, they didn't do it at credit level.

Hmm. So this young man who says he's done no science...

Not that one would be a lot of help at this stage (year 11). In England it's all three science. Various options for qualifications, but all involve all three. Tough to change countries at this point.
