So I am doing an Access to Humanities course at the age of 40 with 3 kids (3,10 and 15). I have just been offered a place at a very good London University to study Politics .
Because of this I read far more than I ever did, and therefore the kids read more, we talk about current affairs more and generally are a little bit more inquisitive about life in general.
Annnnywaaaayy...a couple weeks ago I was talking to my son about Haiti and why it was a double tragedy because there are already so many orphans and in comparison we are so much better off. So my son goes away and has a think and then comes back all angry about the debt Haiti owes and just not getting why we wouldnt help out BEFORE something like an earthquake happens.
The next night he comes home and decides to so a sponsored something...which ended up being 8 hours of sponsored drumming . He thought a football match would take too long to organise and thought if he could raise £50 on his own it would be fantastic.
So we set up a just giving page fort aunties and uncles around the country and erm....he is almost at £700
My point is that had I not decided to study I would have been watching TV again and glossing over what had happened. There isnt really any point...just thought I would share it (in a non-huggy/feely way )
