Can anyone provide any recent experience about South Hampstead or Channing. I know a lot about them from when I was school age but that was 20 years ago and a lot can change. Trying to decide for September. Thanks.

I have a daughter in Year 7 at Channing - and it has worked out extremely well. She is very happy there, the teachers seem very nice and very interested in the children. I have met a few of the other girls in her class - they all seem very pleasant, articulate and polite girls.

PS: I showed this post to my daughter who says big vote for Channing because the teachers are really nice and very supportive and because the school did a great job at helping everyone settle in really quickly.

Feel free to CAT me if you would like a bit more detail or if you have specific questions.

Thanks Summersoon. I'll get in touch if I have any questions. Channing and South Hampstead seem to be very different types of school and the tricky bit is working out what type of child our 3 year old will become. It's all a bit odd having to match a 3 year old to a school at this stage.

Ah, ok - I had assumed you were looking at 11+ entry. I can't tell you anything at all about SHHS Junior School and not much about Fairseat - except that I have heard from the parents of the girls in my DD's year who have come up from Fairseat what a lovely place it is. Of course, those people would be fans of the school and I haven't talked to anyone who has left for whatever reason. My DD attended a different prep to either of these.
