I am in the process of enroling my 3 1/2 yr old son for Sept 2006 in Cobham and I am torn between choosing a state school v an independent one. Has anyone got any insight into either based in the Cobham area. I would welcome any feedback on either. Many thanks

Hi New Yorker,

I used to live in Cobham. Are you American? If so there's an excellent American Community School in Cobham (private). Cobham is a very wealthy area, in part due to a lot of expats living there, so there are a lot of excellent private schools. I think the vast majority of expats send their children to the private schools in the area. I'm afraid I have no experience of the local state schools. Have you tried US expat websites for London/Surrey? There are loads of Americans in the Cobham Area(in part due to the American School)and you'd probably get some good advice.

Of course, if you're not American then this is all completely pointless!

Oh, and of course, if your son is too young for the community school then the school secretary might be able to suggest some appropriate alternatives.
