I thought we should have heard yesterday, Jan 29th. Nothing in post today either... have I got the date wrong perhaps? Many thanks

for us closing date was 29th, we don't find out til may though

maxpower · 30/01/2010 13:27

depends on where you live I guess. Our closing date was 11th, we find out mid March

Wolfgirl · 30/01/2010 13:30

Oh I see. OK, I can wait ... thought we found out on the 29th, not that the closing date was 29th. Thanks ladies, big help!

depends totally on your LEA

Our closing date was the beginning of Nov, we find out in early March, long wait...

NoahAndTheWhale · 30/01/2010 15:24

Depends where you are. Our closing date was 15th January - we find out at the beginning of May.

Used to be that we applied by end of September and found out before Christmas but longer wait this year.

NoahAndTheWhale · 30/01/2010 15:25

I know that some places were having the decisions sent out yesterday (Bristol maybe?)

Wolfgirl · 30/01/2010 15:29

Yes, Im Bristol. That would be nice if we did hear soon, but have an idea I will have to wait. DD is a sibling, so I'm sure there will be no problem ??

Jeez, thats some system, i got told the day i filled in ds form that he had a place!

Wolfgirl · 30/01/2010 15:32

...sorry meant to say, older child already at the school. Didnt quite make sense that last post.

Wolf - we are Bristol also.

I e-mailed the admission's team and they said all letters were going out 2nd class post yesterday so hopefully we should get something by Monday or Tues.

They said if hadn't heard by Friday 5th Feb, to contact them.

I have complained though because they were so gung ho for parents to apply via e-form but are letting them know via mail. I think if you applied online, you should find out via e-mail on the day the places are out

Our post doesn't arrive until late in the day either so am going to be antsy all day Monday!!

Wolfgirl · 30/01/2010 15:36

Hi there PJC; yeah a bit bureaucratic eh! Can't hurry things along any quicker tbh, but glad I know it's on its way, thanks for that. Are you North, South or where Bristol? I'm North (WOT)

Hi Wolfgirl - with a sibling there already you should be absolutely fine. Will be interesting to see if removing the "areas of prime responsibility" makes any difference this year though. Are you trying to get a place at WOT, E or SB?

Wolfgirl · 31/01/2010 17:58

Evening Runoutofideas! WOT, DS is there already

Ah - have loads of friends with children there. Seems a lovely school. DD1 is at E, so hopefully we'll have no issues next year with dd2. There is much anxiety at pre-school with people waiting for letters. Hope you get yours today....

Runoutofideas · 01/02/2010 07:39

You too PussinJimmyChoos!

PussinJimmyChoos · 01/02/2010 19:56

Pah...no letter today!! I reckon they probably posted them last thing on Friday evening...I rang the admissions team and lied through my teeth told them I was away and wouldn't get the post etc but they remained unmoved and would not tell me.....

Mind you, they probably get lots of parents trying it on

Runoutofideas · 02/02/2010 12:29

Any news today?

Wolfgirl · 02/02/2010 15:26

Hi ya, no... still nothing. Had post today already. Ho hum.

OP posts:
Runoutofideas · 02/02/2010 17:36

Wonder if it is the council or Royal Mail being rubbish, or both...

PussinJimmyChoos · 02/02/2010 19:58

Nothing here either...am so pi**ed off with it....I think it must be R.Mail because a friend of mine sent me something second class post on Friday and I received it yesterday...

Means yet ANOTHER day of waiting and its not like the post arrives before work...I could scream!!!!

Wolfgirl · 03/02/2010 10:20

Well I guess.... there's not much point stressing tbh. Start date is months away anyway, so plenty of time. It would just ease my excitement somewhat if I did know

Also, quick question (although should know this already, but I've forgotten) - what is the duration of the settling in period - anyone know? It's something like: 1st couple of weeks - morning attendance only; next couple of weeks - stay for lunch; next couple of weeks - early pick up - 2ish?

OP posts:
Runoutofideas · 03/02/2010 12:51

Not sure - WOT was different from E. Yours seemed to be a bit shorter than ours. E was age dependent ie the older ones went full time more quickly. Not sure if WOT did the same.

Wolfgirl · 03/02/2010 13:15

Dah nahhhhhhhhhhh! It's arrived and it's good news! DD has been accepted to WOT, 1st choice school.

So pleased! let me know your results too ladies. Hoping the best for you all
