Quick admissions query: What if the advised normal area school is Cof E, does LA have to "offer" an alternative

Please help me if you know anything at all about this...(Choice Advisiors/L A/ Personal experience/ I have tried to find the answer in the code/legislation and I am just not finding anything.

The normal area school for my (very rural) home is a C of E school. Does the LA have to nominate a school for my area which is not alligned to C of E (or indeed any faith)?

What I am worried about is that I have to either
(a) select my normal area school forcing me to send my child to a Cof E school or

(b) select schools which are not my normal area school and by reason of my rurality places me at particular disadvantage in terms of priority.

I would really appreciate you sharing your experience of this or guidance or pointers as to where i can find guidance on this

I wondered about doing this in the past, though in the end it didn't affect us as we've always had a non-faith school handy, but you could try the campaign for secular education, or the humanist society, they campaign on these things. You could see if anyone has asked for this before.

Pushka, don't dismiss the CofE school out of hand. My ds is at one and is an ardent atheist. Not that I'm a believer particularly but he really takes the biscuit when it comes to God denial.

Oh absolutely not! Not dismissed it out of hand,...I am a Christian who is very happy with my God though I have more concerns with my Church . Have had many a discussion about it with DH (and in prayer!)to reach our decision.
