Anyone understand the different reading levels? My 6 yr old is on Oxford Reading Tree stage 3, is this about the right level?

My year 1 child is on that level too.

have a look at this

smee · 28/01/2010 10:38

No don't look at that . Honestly at 6 level 3 is fine.

I thought that was rubbish too. My dd is in a book band scheme and her ORT books are level 2 or 3. Her colour is apparently workind within NC level 1.

sorry, didn't mean to cause trouble. But in any case, the ages given are 'approximate', and the age listed for level three is almost 6. So surely counts as approximately 6? I don't think it would make me worry.

Thank you. Just puts my mind at rest that we're normal!

Aranea - no you haven't caused trouble. Thank you
Sorry if my post implied that.

Me too Aranea - no need to - I was just didn't want her to worry.

To be honest the table you sent is pretty much right because he's in term 2 year 1. It says he should be on stage 4 and he's only got a few stage 3 books left so not too far behind. Thanks, all your comments have been really useful
