Anyone know how many girls sat the entrance exam for NLC the other week?

It is probably hard to be accurate as they are part of the North London schools consortium, so girls may have been there to take the exam, but not necessarily havig them down as their first choice.

This may help if you need to understand the process.

NLSC

Some years ago, last time we were doing this, Bernice McCabe told me 420. Haven't had a chance to ask this year - just wondered if anyone else had. I think it will be significantly higher!

dd1 is in y6 at NLCS Junior School. They sat the 11+ along with the external candidates (though were not in open competition as such for their places). I can reliably tell you the number was not unadjacent to 600 (one of dd's friends was candidate no.590 something or other) but rumour has it that it could have been up to 800. Alibubbles is correct to say not all those girls will have nominated NLCS as first choice, but my bet is that most of them did - most of the other consortium schools are not especially nearby and in a tighter geographical circle in relation to each other, so why take a child all the way to Edgware unless the school were in fact first choice.

There is no nominating of choices amongst schools that I know of - although most ask where else you are applying - which I don't feel obliged to answer except amongst the North London Consortium schools who obviously know anyway - or have I repeatedly missed something?
