Are schools having a real clampdown on absence at the moment?

Judging from recent threads about parents getting letters from EWO, have schools become more answerable to LEA or whoever?

Yes, schools are judged on it and is part of the inspection process from Ofsted

Wish mine would! They keep on phoning me to collect children who IMO could cope just fine if they put their minds to it.
