If you are required to list a reference for a teaching job do you put the head's name or your direct line boss (in this instance it would be my previous Head of Faculty)? If it makes any difference I am applying to the school I last taught at although there is a new head..

I do direct line boss, mainly because I am too lowly to have much to do with the head, but sure it doesn't make too much difference tbh.

Thanks wonderstuff - the head wouldn't have the foggiest who I am so that makes sense really!

Even if you put the head down then they would ask your line manager to write it.
