Schools in calne

We are moving from London to Calne in Wiltshire this summer. Would be very grateful for any advice on primary schools and nurseries in the area from people with direct experience -- league tables and ofsted reports only tell you so much. 2 boys 3 and 6. thanks.

Hi Sophy... no advice for you but ill probabyl be moving to RAF Lyneham which is between Calne and Swindon in the sumemr too.... hope to meet up with you soon!

My father was based at RAF Lyneham twice on the Hercs, once when I was a schoolgirl many many years ago(Grammar in Calne funnily enough Sophy but it is now a comp)

My SIL lives in Calne & loves the local Church Primary school, but I think she has concerns over the local secondary.

She used to use a childminder and always complained that there are no after school clubss, holiday playclubs available.

It is a beautiful area though - we like visiting

Dh is Army, but will be based at Lyneham.... i dont get it either! Just waiting til tuesday for more news on WHEN we will be moving!

Oh yes there were Army there too!

Hoping it will be either a quick move, or otherwise they will have to wait til baby is born! I REFUSE TO MOVE AT ANYMORE THAN 30 WEEKS PG!

Milliways, thanks for your comments, the catholic school does look good but is full at the moment.

Anyone else out there in or around Calne who can advise me?

i know this thread is a bit old and you may have alredy moved but i am in calne and st dunstan is a rubbish school xx
