School intake

Can anyone tell me if there is only going to be one intake in schools in England soon or is it certain areas.
The school my little boy is going to go to usually has 2 intakes, Jan and September, but someone said it is going to change.
If anyone knows about this let me know.

Jade, as I understand it, the change is that schools now have to offer parents the chance to start their children in January BUT if there are no places left at the school (ie they were all filled in September) then they don't have to offer you a place, even if you are in the catchment area. This is the situation we are in with my youngest daughter who will start in September, but is not 4 until end July.
There's more info on one of the other threads.

When is this? In our area they currently have three intakes. And we have been told that next year (2001-2002) there will be three intakes too?

Kmg, I think its more a case of increasing the number of intakes, so if you already have 3 there should be no problems. In our area there was (and effectively still is) only 1 intake, in September.
