Has anyone ever gone into a school to talk about their job?

I would tell them where you work and what your general role is without telling them you actually do in detail(front desk), chat about different things the council do, like waste and recycling, housing, council tax etc and then perhaps ask them to volunteer what they think your duties might be during the day. Interactive is the way to go I think. I recently did a talk to a group of postnatal mums who all looked fairly bored in my first few sentences........until I got them telling me stuff and they woke up!
You could also then finish by telling them what quals you need to do your job or if you've had to do extra training etc.

I haven't but dh did when he used to work on a local paper.
He told them the general day to day stuff then some funnies...

But in most of the schools he went to, the most popular question was "how much do you earn?"

Do some role play.

yes I have talked about my job (local paper too).

Agree the way to go is to set them something to do - in groups, maybe dealing with a problem you might face, then feed back - also ask them lots of questions.
Make sure they are ones they can answer.

I always get asked how much I earn too! I don't tell
