Help from teachers/parents needed - World Wars DVDs or other resources

DD1 (6 and home educated) keeps asking me about the war - I think she means WW2. I was wondering what might be a good dvd to get her to stimulate more discussion.

I'm going to get her the 1940s house DVD as she and her sister really enjoy the Victorian Farm one we got them after seeing it on tv.

She's a fluent reader, if that makes any difference, and very mature. She's not got the stamina for reading the horrible histories books yet - we've tried! - but loves watching the series on tv.

if she were in KS2 she 2would be looking at the home front Iirc so you could look at rationing with her.

can you just do some excercises though based on texts
look at the power of propaganda etc
subsitute /ersatz food

teh main target areas you would be looking at in a school is the idea that change happens and being able to point out change and explain it ( level 3/4)

ie compare a WW" home( taped windows, adnerson shelter) with a home today

Although I'm slowly realising it's the soldiers and the army she's interested in . I think it's come from her having camo wellies (only pair I could get in her size in an emergency dash to Sainburys!). So I'm wondering if it's the army she actually wants to know about, rather than the war per se....

Michael Morpurgo's "Friend or Foe" is good for evacuation - it's fairly short - you could read it to her. There are different soldiers in the book - the home guard and a couple of German pilots.
