ds is 3.6 and in nursery for 5 afternoons a week and loves it, scince he started he has not had any abcenses at all but today he has had dioreah twice and he has been complaining of having a belly ache for a few days now. I have already phoned the school and booked him off today but have i done the right thing as he is fine except for the dioreah.

Most nurseries and schools have a rule that children must be kept off if they have sickness or diarrhoea. Some say 24 hours and others say 48 hours. So you are right to keep him off.

TheFoosa · 16/10/2009 10:57

there is usually a policy that says the child shouldn't be in school for 24hrs after the symptoms have stopped, so yes, he should be at home
