Dyslexia programmes

Hi Anyone out there tried any of these dyslexia
programmes or have they been used in your schools?
Brightstar, Raviv, Davis technique.
All very expensive with great results reported by themselves but no independant analysis.

I haven't any experience of dyslexia personally but I have seen a reading method called Phono-Graphix which is suitable for all children, including dyslexic learners. I first read about it in a book called Why Children Can't Read - a book which put a lot of people's backs up because the author claims there is no such thing as dyslexia! - but I am using Reading Reflex (the book by the Phono-Graphix people) to teach my son to read and things are going well. Although as I say I have no reason to believe he is dyslexic.

Dyslexic children apparently have difficulty hearing all the sounds in words - they have trouble with blending and segmenting - so any method which improves these skills should be a good one... ??

Both the books I've mentioned are on Amazon and Phono-Graphix has a website: do a search on Read America and it will come up, it's called Read America.

Oh, and I think there is some research/results which proves Phono-Graphix helps dyslexic learners but I'm not sure how independent it is or where you find it - but the books I've mentioned would probably tell you.

Thanks girls, aniles I will be getting in touch when you are a bit further in to it. There must be more of you out there that have tried these or other things. It is so hard to decide what to do for the best.
