Help understanding Grammar school admissions policy

Hi
For our local grammar 11+ entrance, candidates have to sit a verbal reasoning test & a mathematics test. The following sentence is in the admissions policy,
can anyone explain what it means?

"The test scores for mathematics are given a weighting equal to half the value of the verbal reasoning".
Thanks

Think of it as getting 1 point for each maths question they get right, but 2 points for each verbal reasoning question.

So if they got 5/10 for maths and 10/15 for verbal reasoning, they'd get an overall score of 25/40 ( 5+10+10 / 10+15+15 )

Does that make sense?

Yes thanks, it does. Unfortunately maths is DS strength....ah well more VR practice for us then!
